There is a point in life when your financial problems change.
When you’re younger, the questions are often straightforward:
How do I make more money?
How do I get a better job? Start a business? Invest more? Pay off debt? Build wealth?
But eventually, the questions become more complicated.
How do I protect what I’ve built?
How do I invest when the numbers get bigger and the stakes get higher? How do I balance risk and opportunity? How do I make smart decisions when the tax consequences are significant? How do I create a life that is actually better because I have more money?
And perhaps the most complicated question of all:
How do you build significant wealth without letting it consume your life?
That is the idea behind our new podcast: Million Dollar Problems.
A New Podcast With a Different Perspective
I am excited to announce the launch of Million Dollar Problems, a new podcast hosted by me, Luke Lloyd, alongside venture capitalist Chris Hjelm.
The show is built around the idea that wealth creates opportunity—but it also creates a new set of challenges.
Chris and I come from different professional backgrounds, which is exactly what makes the conversation interesting.
I approach money from the perspective of a financial advisor and planner. My focus is on investing, financial planning, taxes, retirement, wealth preservation, and helping people make better decisions with the money they have built.
Chris brings the perspective of a venture capitalist—someone who spends his time thinking about businesses, innovation, entrepreneurs, risk, capital allocation, and the opportunities that can create extraordinary wealth.
Those perspectives don’t always lead to the same conclusion.
And that’s the point.
Million Dollar Problems is about the conversations that happen when you look at money, business, investing, and life from different angles.
Because Wealth Is More Than a Number
A million dollars sounds like a lot of money.
But the reality is that the number itself doesn’t solve every problem.
In many ways, it creates new ones.
What investments should you own?
How much risk should you take?
When should you sell?
How do you minimize taxes?
How do you structure your estate?
How do you help your children without taking away their motivation?
How do you transition from building wealth to actually enjoying it?
How do you deal with the pressure of maintaining a lifestyle?
How do you know when you have enough?
And how do you continue to grow when the consequences of a mistake become much larger?
These are the types of questions we want to explore.
Not through a textbook.
Not through generic financial advice.
And not by pretending there is one answer that works for everyone.
Instead, we want to have real conversations about money, investing, business, success, risk, opportunity, and the psychology behind the decisions we make.
Building Wealth Without Losing Your Mind
The tagline for the show is simple:
Building Wealth Without Losing Your Mind.
Because money is emotional.
The more money you have, the more important financial decisions can become—but that doesn’t necessarily mean the decisions get easier.
Sometimes the biggest challenge isn’t finding an investment.
It’s having the discipline not to constantly change your strategy.
Sometimes the biggest challenge isn’t earning more money.
It’s knowing what to do with the money you’ve already earned.
Sometimes the biggest challenge isn’t achieving success.
It’s figuring out what success actually means after you’ve achieved it.
And sometimes, the biggest financial mistake isn’t taking too much risk.
It’s becoming so afraid of losing what you have that you stop taking any risk at all.
Money. Investing. Business. Life. Legacy.
The conversations on Million Dollar Problems will go beyond traditional personal finance.
We’ll talk about:
Investing and markets
Building and selling businesses
Venture capital and entrepreneurship
Financial planning and wealth management
Taxes and wealth preservation
Risk and opportunity
The psychology of money
Lifestyle and spending
Family and generational wealth
Retirement and purpose
Legacy and philanthropy
The decisions that come with success
The goal isn’t simply to tell you what to think.
It’s to make you think.
Because the financial world is full of people who want to give you an answer.
We want to spend more time asking better questions.

I am excited to begin this new project with Chris.
The world of finance and investing is constantly changing. Technology is reshaping businesses. AI is changing industries. Markets are evolving. Entrepreneurs are creating new opportunities. And the definition of wealth itself is changing.
But the fundamental questions remain the same:
What are you trying to build?
Why are you building it?
What are you willing to risk to get there?
And once you get there…
What are you going to do with it?
That’s what Million Dollar Problems is all about.
Real talk. Real strategies. Real wealth.
We hope you’ll join us.

ADP Employment was 16.5K vs. prev. 19.8K. That’s the worst since March but still not bad.
Oil was up 3%, though off highs, after both sides denied talks were ongoing.
The yen hit the weakest since 1986, which helps the carry trade.
Momentum (MTUM) stocks bounced back hard, yesterday, after getting crushed all month, though it’s giving back some gains this morning.
GOOG and TSLA start MAG7 reporting tonight. We also have the first big US semiconductor in Texas Instruments (TXN).
Bottom line: Crude is back to causing some trouble.
